Year 5 & 6 Teacher/Kaiako

Tēnā koutou katoa,
I joined the Waitoki whanau in 2025. Prior to that I had worked for roughly the last 10 years at Hauraki school on the Devonport peninsula where I predominantly worked within the senior school, in particular year 5 students. I have a Bachelors Degree in Education specialising in Pasifika education from AUT. I am passionate about culture especially Māori and Pasifika culture which has made me pursue my interests in groups like Kapa Haka and Sasa Group.
I have been a local within Waitoki for about 4 years, all my children attend our school so I am excited that I have the opportunity to make an impact within my own community. My hope is to create students that are passionate, well rounded, life long learners who strive for excellence by trying the best they can.
The classroom environment I provide is a home away from home where students feel comfortable, encouraged and will dare to be adventurous. "Happy mistakes" are encouraged and challenge is promoted!
My passion for my profession and providing the best quality education I can is a top priority for me, but when I'm not thinking about school you'll more than likely find me working on the farm, painting, or making something.
Poipoia te kākano kia puāwai - nuture the seed the the blossom will grow.
