Kia Ora! I’m Mrs Rushworth.

I joined Waitoki School in 2022 and love the special family feel our school has to offer.

I began teaching in 2010 in the UK after completing a Bachelor of Arts in Primary Education. I moved to New Zealand in 2018 and taught at Birkdale Primary School before moving to Waitoki.

I have taught children in years 0-4 and have a strong understanding of early learning, which supports my practise further up school as I believe strong foundations are vital. I am a passionate and enthusiastic teacher who loves to inspire and excite my students to be lifelong learners. I have strengths in structured literacy, technology, music and positive behaviour for learning. I am passionate about equity for all, making sure no one is left behind. I recently completed a level 5 SPELD certificate in teaching individuals with specific learning disabilities. This knowledge and experience helps me to support and understand all my learners.

When I’m not at school I love spending time with my husband Michael, our dog Jax and our three boys Adam, Aston and Abel, exploring beautiful Aotearoa.
