Kia Ora, I'm Makayla Lawson
I'm incredibly excited to be joining the Waitoki School team in 2025.
My journey working in Education started in 2016, when I began working in ECE and as a Camp Counsellor for a Summer Camp in New York. I completed my Bachelor of Education Degree (Primary) at the University of Auckland in 2019 and started teaching at Coatesville School in 2020.
I value building strong connections with ākonga and their whānau as I believe it is the foundation to creating a safe and inclusive classroom environment. I am dedicated to ensuring that ākonga feel valued and celebrated as individuals. I enjoy teaching all areas of the curriculum and have a special passion for literacy and visual arts.
Outside of school, I love spending time with my Jack Russell puppy, Rylee, along with spending quality time with my family and friends. I also enjoy spending time outdoors, reading and shopping.
I look forward to an amazing year full of learning!
