I'm Shannon (Miss Mitchell) and I'm excited to be joining Waitoki School in 2024 as a Year 7-8 teacher. My teaching philosophy is focused around creating student-centred learning, where every tamariki has a unique potential that can be unleashed through supportive guidance and hands-on experiences. I'm passionate about creating a classroom environment where students feel empowered to take charge of their learning journey, fostering independence and critical thinking skills.

I graduated from AUT with a Bachelor of Education in 2023 after many years in finance, administration, and sports coaching. As a fresh face in the teaching world, I bring a vibrant energy and a commitment to adapt and respond to the needs of each student. I'm all about collaboration, open communication, and building a strong classroom community where everyone feels valued and heard.

Outside the classroom, my young family keeps me busy. We are a blended whanau with three beautiful children. I'm sports-mad so you'll often find me on the golf course, watching cricket, at the beach, or in the water.
